How to care for your silver jewellery

Now you have chosen and purchased your new lovely piece of silver jewellery, its vitally important to know how to care for it!

Its important to know that sterling silver jewellery can tarnish over time due to exposure to air, moisture and chemicals, and in some cases, an individuals skin composition or pH can cause silver to tarnish more quickly.

Tarnishing is natural and part of the chemical make up of these metals, it doesn't damage the metal, it just causes a layer of out coating to your piece so you can't see that shine! 

Below are the following ways to keep you jewellery in top condition:

• Avoid contact with chemicals- remove jewellery before showering, swimming or applying lotions, perfumes etc.
• Keep it dry- Moisture accelerates tarnishing, so make sure your jewellery is dried out after it gets wet.
• Use Mild soap and Water to clean if dirty, but make sure you dry thoroughly.
• Store in a air tight container- use the pouch/the box it comes in or zip lock bag to help reduce air exposure.
• Use a polishing cloth- these are great to help remove tarnish and restore shine.
• Keep pieces separate- to prevent scratching
